Renate and Gerd Neubeck moved to Douce Mountain Farm in the spring of 1995 from their native Germany. They brought with them their one-year-old son Paul, their daughter Anna arrived in 1996 completing the family. Today they share their organic farm with cows, sheep, goats, ponies, chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs. By now they are so well integrated in rural Irish life on the slopes of Douce Mountain that their former jobs as a social worker and as a teacher of Economics and English and later as a business manager of a meditation centre in the Black Forest seem very far away. Gerd worked in the German school system for several years. He also did further studies in adult education.
