Douce Mountain Farm is on 49 acres of hillside in the beautiful Shehy Mountains in West Cork in the Southwest of Ireland. Farm and guesthouse are in the townland of Incharoe which has 9 scattered small sheep and cattle farms stretching uphill from the banks of the Owvane River to the top of Douce Mountain.
The independent guesthouse, which is about 10 minutes´ walk from the farm, is a small, stone-built traditional farmhouse, surrounded by hedges of fuchsia, with superb views along the Owvane River valley to Bantry Bay.
We like our guests to experience the wonderful stillness and seclusion of life in the wild beauty of the mountains. This requires a certain inner stillness, which we hope to assist in developing by offering daily Sitting in Silence, a meditative exercise based on traditional Zen teachings and Christian contemplation practices. We also hope to maintain an atmosphere in the guesthouse which nurtures inner silence.
During the family days Douce Mountain Farm is open for adventurous children.
